As an interior designer, I’m always on the hunt for cool places that get my creative juices flowing. It’s not just about shopping; it’s about soaking in spaces that spark fresh ideas. Our latest trip to Spain was a total whirlwind of awesome culture and jaw-dropping architecture, but for the last four days, we seriously needed to hit the brakes and just chill. Enter La Residencia in Deià, Mallorca – the perfect escape!

Seriously, this place is something else. Tucked away in these amazing gardens, surrounded by ancient olive trees and citrus groves, right on the edge of the charming artists’ village of Deià. From the second we rolled up, you could feel that this wasn’t just another hotel. It’s got this chill, elegant vibe, and everywhere you look, there’s some cool little detail — a bowl heaped with lemons, the simple canopy bed with turned posts and artfully garnished cocktails.

Art Everywhere You Look!
Okay, this is where La Residencia really shines for a designer like me. The whole hotel IS a giant art gallery – there are incredible pieces literally everywhere! They even have an artist in residence program It’s like they’re always celebrating creativity, not just appreciating it. There was an opening in Sa Tafona art Gallery while we were there.

This ceramic piece from the show is by Dora Good Alzamora and the painting above it is by her mother, Grace Alzamora
All over the property I was checking out the different textures, the curated bits and pieces, and how they seamlessly blended the local art with antiques and modern conveniences into the design. Seriously, it’s a masterclass in making a space feel high-end but still totally real and connected to its roots.

Exploring & Unwinding
Even though it was cloudy for most of our visit (which, honestly, made for perfect sightseeing weather!), Mallorca’s beauty still totally blew me away. One morning, I took a super peaceful solo walk down to the water and stumbled upon this cute, rustic little inlet with boats you could rent. The rocky beaches had this untouched, calm vibe that was just so refreshing.

We had a great mix of chilling out and and wandering around. We explored nearby towns like Valldemossa and Sóller, hitting up local markets, visiting galleries (do you see a theme here?) and trying out all the yummy restaurants. We even took a ride on the historic wooden train to the sea.

Back at La Residencia, there were so many sweet spots to just be. Whether it was lounging by the pool with those insane mountain views as the sun was setting (seriously, check out my pic!), or finding a secluded little nook in the gardens with a book, the hotel has tons of places for quiet time and just soaking in the incredible scenery. That soft light hitting the old stone walls in the evening…pure magic.
La Residencia is a perfect example of how amazing design, respecting the local culture, and totally embracing art can create an unforgettable experience. It’s a place that doesn’t just help you relax, it actually sparks your creativity. I left feeling totally recharged and with a million new design ideas buzzing in my head!
